David was a man after God's own heart, yet, did thoseterrible sins. Only through the mercy of God was his life spared. David no doubt suffered for the rest of his life, for those sins. Part of the consequences of these sins were those two sons, Amnon and Absalon. A third son, Adonijah, will also create a trial for David and break his heart. Our point is, even though we try our best in life and hope God loves us, there will be trials along the way that we have to overcome. So we need not be surprised, but as in King David's life, God will be there for us.
