Absalom stole the hearts of the people of Israel by executing judgements on the ones that came to David's house. He would tell them that there was no one available for their case and then pronounce a judgement himself. Did he know that God had picked Solomon? Maybe not. He knew that he was one of the oldest sons and that he should have been first in line for the throne, but, David, his father, had not proclaimed him the heir to the throne. Did he really think that God wanted him to be the King of the children of Israel, or as it looks, did he forsake God's choice?
