2 Samuel 20:9-10 -- "And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him. But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri."
We don't read much about Amasa, his life cut short by Joab as we read in this chapter. He had been appointed as captain of David's army in the previous chapter.
2 Samuel 19:13 -- "And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? Elohim do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab."
I did some quick searching, but I couldn't find anything else about Amasa. Does anyone else know anything about him?

Amasa (ahmʹah-suh; Heb., ‘to support, defend, protect’ [cf. Isa. 46:3]). 1 The son of Abigail, David’s half-sister, and Jether (1 Chron. 2:17). He was the cousin of Joab and his successor as military commander-in-chief, despite his defection to the rebelling Absalom (2 Sam. 17:25; 19:14). During the revolt of Sheba, he failed to take prompt action and was therefore murdered by Joab (2 Sam. 20:1-13). He can probably be identified with Amasai, the leader of the thirty ‘mighty men’ (1 Chron. 12:19). - Harper’s Bible dictionary
