God' warning

This chapter of Jeremiah tells of God's warning the people of Jerusalem that the city will be destroyed! It tells that the priest,prophets, and the people took him and executed judgement on him,"thou shalt surely die!" This took place in the Temple.  Jeremiah pleaded for them to mend their ways and maybe God would listen,"and The Lord will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you."  They would not harken, but God's hand moved an elder of the city to speak to the assembly. He reminded them of Micah and Urijah the prophets, and it states, the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death."
