The next difficulty is David’s punishment—in Chronicles we read three years. We feel almost certain this is the true reading—three years, three months, or three days. Some have suggested that, as there had been three years of famine, probably this was the fourth year, and so another three would make seven. We reply, not unless the fourth year was also a famine year. But if it were, then what about the statement that after that God was intreated for the land (2 Sam. 21:14). In verse 15 we read, even to the time appointed. It is said we should read, even to the time of assembly, that is, the ninth hour, when the people assembled for prayer at the evening sacrifice. - 1902 Christadelphian p 568
