In this chapter the King Jehoiakim and his servants were hardened against the Word of God given by Jeremiah. His princes and scribes were first in a state of fear and then upon the burning of the roll most accepted the King's actions. There were three princes that challenged the burning, but was readily rebuked. This is in strong contrast to King Josiah's passion upon finding the books of the Law and having them read to the people!
