Gedaliah had told Johanan that what he had said about Ishmael was wrong that ishmael was a good man. He was definitely wrong! Johanan came after the slaughter and confronted Ishmael. Ishmael and eight men escaped to the Ammonites. Instead of telling the King of Bablylon who was responsible for the killing of Gedaliah, Johanan prepared to run. He gathered the survivors and prepared to go to Egypt. This was a poor decision because Babylon would soon conquer Egypt.
