In this chapter we see Ezekiel in his home with several elders with him. Ezekiel feels the hand of God on him and is transported to Jerusalem to the entrance of a gateway of the inner court. Here he sees the children of Israel worshipping idols. Bolton states,"It is bad enough to see the people of Jerusalem worshipping idols; to do so in the precincts of the temple devoted to God Himself was worse." Ezekiel is then told to dig in the wall. As he digs he finds a door. When he goes in he sees portrayed on the walls all the abominations of the children of Israel. He recognizes many of the gods of Egypt, he is told that the elders are worshipping in the dark these gods. One god is mourned because he dies and summer ends, when summer begins he comes back to life-they rejoice and during all this were occasions of licentiousness. Ezekiel is then taken to the inner court where he sees twenty-five men facing away from God, worshipping the sun.
