In this chapter we see Daniel reading the writing on the wall for King Belshazzar king of Babylon. He is rewarded with purple clothes and a gold necklace and given the title of third ruler in the kingdom. The kingdom was short lived, King Belshazzar was killed that night by Darius the Mede. God told of this in the hand writing on the wall, "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN." "God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end. You have been weighed in the balances and found lacking. Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and the Persians."
As we see, Daniel relayed the message, was rewarded, and that night the Medes killed the King! God's hand was with Daniel, have you ever heard of a conquering king not killing all the rulers of the conquered land? God protected Daniel and gave him favor even with the Medes which had just taken Babylon.
