Here are some notes I have from bro. Bill R.'s series of talks on Malachi.
Malachi 2:1-9 is a warning directed specifically to the priesthood in Malachi's day. The "commandment" of verse 1 refers to the commandments under the Law of Moses, and in following verses Malachi tells of faithful Levitical priests as an example for priests at the time of the prophecy.
In verse 3, "behold" usually produces a message of warning. The phrase "corrupt your seed" means to prevent the harvest. The people would not be able to survive because they would have no food. The phrase "spread dung upon your faces" is Yahweh's expression of disgust towards the people.
