Malachi 3:1 -- "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Adon, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith Yahweh of armies."
Chapter 3 is a call to Israel in view of the impending divine judgement. In verse 1, the word translated "Lord" in the KJV is the Hebrew word "Adon", which is not frequently used. This has the meaning of the "ruler" or the "sovereign". Thus, the verse speaks of the coming of the sovereign lord that is going to be manifested in Israel.
