Endogenous Retroviral sequences (ERV's)are segments of DNA sequence that are thought by evolutionists to be inserted into our DNA code by retroviruses. Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) are endogenous viral elements in the genome that closely resemble and can be derived from retroviruses. They are abundant in the genomes of jawed vertebrates and they occupy as much as 4.9% of the human genome. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It is argued that these viruses inserted this code in a common ancestor (ape), and as time continued, all the apes descendants had this same inserted code in the same genetic location. The evolutionists argue that since chimps and humans have this inserted code in exactly the same place this is evidence that it was inserted in an ancestor and therefore we are both related to a "common ancestor".

1. Are these segments truly "junk" DNA inserted by a virus?
- if these DNA segments are from viruses then they would should not have any function (ie junk) - there are scientists that feel these are truly FUNCTIONAL segments of DNA. If functional then it is argued these couldn't be related to an insertion
