“THE TENTH GENERATION” (Deut. 23:3).—Is it not significant that Ruth lived in the “tenth generation” of her nation? Moab was the son of Lot who was contemporary with Abraham. From the latter the generations were ten to the time of Boaz: Isaac, Jacob, Judah, Pharez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz. So Ruth, in the tenth generation, was received into the congregation of the Lord and fulfilled the condition required by the Law in Deut. 23:3, and thus became a worthy ancestress of him who made that Law “honourable.”—L.H.
