"Psa. 45. is about Christ. This is the key to the details. The “King’s daughter” of verse 13 is undoubtedly the “Queen” of verse 9, as shown by her being apostrophised in verse 10 as “O, daughter.” In verse 9, she is in glory by the King’s side; in verse 10, she is in probation—called, but not yet chosen.
Who the Messiah’s Queen is, we know from the apostolic writings—the bride the Lamb’s wife. Her description as “all glorious within—her clothing of wrought gold,” is answerable to Paul’s words: “A glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing.” “Brought unto the King in raiment of needlework” is convertible with Rev. 19.: “To her that was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white.” “The virgins, her companions that follow her,” who will enter “in gladness and rejoicing into the King’s palace” (verses 14–15), we may recognise in the angels who gather the saints, and environ their assembly in countless thousands on the day of the marriage supper of the Lamb (Mark 13:27; Rev. 7:9–11).
