Tomorrow's reading 51:16 says.." For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. "
These verses in cp 50 help clarify it even further. When you realize that everything belongs to God (our time, our money, and our bulls/goats), what joy is there in slaying one of God's own things (other than obeying His command)? What joy would he get out of destroying something he owns anyway? He wants obedience from us. That is something we can give him. He owns everything else already. That would almost be like saying.... "I'm gonna take your car, but I'll give it back to you and you should really be thankful and joyful when I do give it back to you." It should be the other way around. we should be thankful and joyful for what God has loaned to us, and in response should do all we can to become one of his loved ones, so that we can be "gathered" along with the rest of the saints at his coming and become one with him.
