For God is my Defense: If only this was our constant prayer and thought, then we wouldn't let the fleshly thoughts creep in that make us think that we can do something of ourself, that we have the smarts or money or power to improve our position. When we start thinking we are more than we really are, then we start pushing God out of our lives and start relying on ourself, which is equivalent to building our house on quicksand. It temporarily appears to be able to hold one up, but will almost immediately suck one in to their destruction.
