The 5th plague is murrain, a disease of the cattle and other domesticated animals. This plague was the hardest to hit the Egyptians up to now. Many of the gods of Egypt had to do with cattle. Hathor the mother goddess of Egypt was represented by a human body and a cow head. Apis was a god in the form of a bull. There was also a great loss of their herds. The Hebrews animals were immune to the disease.
