this looks like it is a psalm that was written long after David.. my bible has a note of possibly 586 BC. or later. When I was younger, I assumed all of the Psalms were written by David, and according to these notes it can be divided into three separate books... this one being in the third. I have no way of confirming what or where these notes are taken from. It is printed with the bible.

That's interesting in that I was wondering about V7 Psa 74:7 They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
The Chaldeans burnt the tabernacle....
2Ch 36:19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
And the Romans completely destroyed it... Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
But I was just thinking, how would this have applied to David/Solomon's time frame, but if your comment above Dan is correct, that would make more sense.

I agree, this chapter 74 must be prophetic of the time when the Chaldeans destroyed Jerusalem. It was by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar that the synagogues were burned and the sanctuary was thrown down.
