Peter, James, John and Jesus were coming down the mountain after the transfiguration and Jesus told them to tell no man what they had seen till the Son of man had risen from the dead. We are told that they kept that saying to themselves, but they questioned each other about what "risen from the dead" should mean. It really seems strange that they did not know what that meant. Jesus had been teaching them about the Gospel of the Kingdom. Evidently they were not ready to know that Jesus would be killed and would be raised from the dead. Even Martha knew that there would be a resurrection at the last day. The point must have been that they were not to know what would hapen to Jesus. We see today the churches teach that the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. True, that is part of it, but, that does not teach about the Gospel of the Kingdom of God which Christ taught.
