Palms are symbols of righteous victory. These beautiful trees that sometimes stand alone in the desert, are fitting symbols of the righteous, who often are surrounded by a sea of sandy unbelievers.
During the Feast of Tabernacles they were to take Palm trees as it says in Lev 23:40 "And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days."
This feast, the Feast of Tabernacles pointed forward to kingdom, when they would live under the branch of righteousness.
Do you recall which city was known as the city of Palms? It was Jericho. Jericho was the first city they were to destroy after entering into the land of promise. After marching around it for 7 days, it was completely destroyed. Do you find that a little odd, that it was called the city of Palms, and yet was inhabited by the unrighteous?
Jer_10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not.
Bro Rene pointed out in one of his articles, that they were a counter-fit copy. Just as false teachers can creep in and look like brethren, but in reality are ravenous wolves.
Jericho was one of the first cities destroyed when Joshua (who was a symbol of Christ) brought the children of Israel into the holy land. Likewise Christ, when he leads his army of faithful, will completely destroy that harlot city that claims to be representing Christ, but is in reality a counter-fit. Trees without fruit.
