Psa 99:1 The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved. Psa 99:5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
It was brought up last week at our meeting how the wordage makes you think the mercy "seat" on top of the ark along with the cherubim where God dwelleth (or as it says here "sitteth"), makes it sound like a Throne.
All speculation, but interesting.
And it wasn't long before the Israelites rejected God as their ruler, asking for a fleshly king. "for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them."
