Pro 23:1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: Pro 23:2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Pro 23:3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
We have a tendency to be swayed by those in higher positions, to "drink their kool-aide" so to speak, so that we become "in the know", or "with the in crowd". It appeals to our pride of life. It makes us feel important. But it will not bring us peace, for it is a temporary feeling that passes quickly, replaced with poison that eats us up.
