John 12:34 "The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?"
"What the Jews here meant by for the age it is impossible definitely to say, without knowing their ideas respecting their Messiah. From what we can gather from the records of the life of Jesus as to their belief on this matter, it appears to have been this, that the Messiah would be a man of the same nature as themselves (for they wanted to make Jesus a king even while he was yet in mortal nature—John 6:15), but that he would continue for a very long period of time. By “for the age” here, then, they would mean the length of the duration of the Messiah’s kingdom." 1875 Christadelphian p404
