What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. (Ecclesiastes 1:3, 4 KJV)
I watched a Captain in the Austin Fire Department cleaning out his locker when he was retiring. He had worked 29 years at that job and all his accomplishments/ certificates / awards he gathered up and threw them into the recycling basket. It made me think of the above verse.
What is it all for? It is for nothing if we dont do it for God. Unfortunately for that man he didnt believe in God and I always think what an empty life it must be not to have God in it.
I cant remember exactly how Mike Jasionowski put it exactly but he said to the young ones all the work done for The Lord will be profitable ( I had the phrase written down but cant find it now, It was really fitting I thought)
