SOLOMON’S PORCH The raised outermost part of Herod’s temple with columns that went all the way around the outer court (John 10:23; Acts 3:11). It is called “the portico of Solomon” (NASB, NRSV, REB) and “Solomon’s Colonnade” (HCSB, NIV), since Solomon’s workers constructed at least the oldest portico on the east side. In Jesus’ day this part of the temple had been built by Herod’s laborers. Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary
