In Verse 8... And whoso breakthrough an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. This reminds me of the time we went to Hylton to pick blackberries. A friend, Sherri Wilkinson lifted up a large part of the bush and a rattler was corralled up in the shade of that bush ready to strike.
Now what is the meaning of this verse?

A hedge is a barrier or a wall that we are to build to keep the serpent (sin ,the world ) out . if one breaks it down they will surely be bitten by the world in one way or another.

It seems to me to relate to what is done to others will return to self. In the first portion the person falls into a pit that was dug or intended for others and in the second clause, a serpent will bite the person that breaks through a wall (of his neighbor's garden). Psalm 80:12- "why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?" In the Psalm, Yahweh breaks the wall of Israel so that others can plunder, but in the proverb, the breaker is a man that intends to harm his neighbor. So in the next verse, "he who removes stones (from his neighbor's landmarks) is hurt by them." so in verse 10, he who uses force without good judgment (blunt iron) endangers himself by the force that is exerted without wisdom.
