Paul says,"... For the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain." Paul was not sent to prison as the other prisoners but was allowed to remain in the city in his own house, however he remained chained to a guard. Being in his own house gave him the opportunity to preach the Gospel. The hope of Israel was both his strong belief in the resurrection and that the kingdom of David would again be established on the earth.
