Jesus compares his generation to a madman that was cured of his mental illness. The madman goes off and comes back with seven spirits worse than him and makes his house worse than before. This teaches that those people believed John the Baptist. They believed Jesus, but later denied him and joined with the Pharisees and Scribes and sank into a worse state than before. The nation would later be destroyed by Rome.
