Jos 5:2 At that time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.
Any thoughts on this? Were they negligent during the wandering in not circumcising their children? Is it a symbol of the final cutting off of flesh of the faithful when they receive their immortality and then enter the promise land?
Suspect they would recall what happened to the men of Shechem after they were circumcised, and yet they were entering a hostile land full of men ready to slay them. To go through a procedure like this that would make you vulnerable required them to rely on God to save them.

Yes, that's what we think it would be. The second time for circumcision was of those born during the forty years and those not circumcised before going into the land.
