There was a difference between Ai and Jericho in dispersing of the spoils. Jericho was entirely devoted unto God, no spoils were to be taken by the Israelites. In this battle with Ai, the army was given the spoils. Does anyone know the reason? Then later on the metals of the captured city were purified and given to Yahweh and the animals are shared among the warriors.
