We are told in the book of Ruth that there was a drought that caused Naomi and her husband and two sons to leave the land and go to Moab. One of her sons married Ruth, who was a Moabite, who after her husband died, married Boaz and later became the grandfather of David. David later would send his parents to the king of moab to protect them during Sauls reign. Later in Isreals history, King Jehoram of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah as well as king of Edom fought against Moab but ended up stopping the siege after King Mesha of Moab sacrificed his oldest son on the city wall of Kirharesth. As time went on, Israels left off serving God, and He allowed King Eglon of Moab who was a very fat man,to overtake Israel, prompting a Benjaminte named Ehud who was left handed to come in acting as if he was giving him a present, but instead stabbed him. Moab eventually fell under the Assyrian invasion. The capital of Moab was dibon, and its chief God was Molech, which they would burn their children to as a sacrifice.
