We read in Joshua of the division of the land of Israel for each tribe these divisions or lots lasted until the 10 tribes were taken and scattered throughout the known world. The Assyrians scattered Israel somewhere near the year 721BC. Later Judah and Benjamin were taken to Babylon in 606 BC. And that also ended their prescribed lot. Simeon was located in the lower part of Judah and their cities possibly were taken when Assyria was at the wall of Jerusalem taunting Hezekiah. I know nothing more of the tribe of Simeon. This concerning Simeon is just a possibility.
