This chapter introduces us to the historical discourses relating to the nations in the days of Hezekiah's reign in Jerusalem. The discourses continued from chapter 28 to chapter 33, and commences with judgement threatened against the Northern Kingdom of Ephraim. Bro. Walker comments:"Shalmanezer appears to be Yahweh's 'mighty and strong one' of Isaiah's allusion in this place. He cast down the crown of pride, and trod the Ephraimite drunkards underfoot."
