Hezekiah fervently prayed unto God and received 15 years by using God's memory of his righteous life. This was a very unique case, But our salvation also relies on God's memory of our life. We must remember then our salvation is by the grace of God and not only of our works. Contrary to the beliefs of much of Christendom, Hezekiah knew that life would cease and all praises to God would end at death. He knew that the grave would end it all and only the living would give God praises.
