The scriptures state that God will "cut off thy arm." I think that this is stating that the priesthood would be taken from his family. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Matthew Henry comments concerning Eli's descendants "This, it is probable, was fully accomplished when Abiathar, who was Eli's race, was deposed by Solomon for treason and he and his turned out of office in the temple..."
Let us remember--Eli raises Samuel at the Temple.
Samuel anoints Saul and David
Abiathar was the only survivor when Saul killed the priests at Nob
Abiathar and Zadok were the anointed priests at David's time
Abiathar went with Adonijah David's son
Solomon judged the last descendent of Eli for treason.
