Verse 4,"not defiled with women." Not associated with the mother of harlots",and her daughters --- the apostate churches of Christendom from Rome downwards. Many of the redeemed are themselves women, which necessitates the symbolic interpretation. But the literal is not to be excluded. "They are virgins." Whether men or women they are incorporated in "the Bride" to be "presented as a chaste virgin to Christ"
