Verses 6-7: "And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely Yahweh's anointed is before him. But Yahweh said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for Yahweh seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looketh on the heart."
Perhaps from his earlier experience with Saul, Samuel immediately sees Eliab as a potential king.
1 Samuel 9:2 -- "And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people."
But he is reproved by Yahweh, for he now seeks a man after his own heart to lead his people.
1 Samuel 13:14 -- "But now thy kingdom shall not continue: Yahweh hath sought him a man after his own heart, and Yahweh hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which Yahweh commanded thee."
It makes me think of Isaiah, writing about Christ.
Isaiah 53:2 -- "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."
