Verse 10: "And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night."
This was the second time that Saul tried to smite David to the wall (see 1 Samuel 18:11). As a Benjamite, Saul should have been skilled with the spear and bow. It is unlikely that he would've missed David twice; this shows clearly that Yahweh's hand was protecting David. We can also compare this to Christ, who in several cases barely escaped being stoned or killed, but was protected because his time was not yet come.
