In God's foreknowledge he was aware that Saul would turn on David. Could these events be for the development of David in the many aspects of his future life? Even though David went through many trials, he was a loyal follower and believer in God. Those trials led to his being a man after God's own heart. For that to happen, David had to have an humble and contrite heart that was willing to accept those trials.
