1 Samuel 23:29 & 24:1-2 -- "And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En–gedi. And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En–gedi. Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats."
Here are some pictures I took at En-Gedi when I visited about three years ago.
En-gedi is also the subject of prophecy. Ezekiel prophesies that En-gedi, which is currently upon the Dead Sea, will see fishers on its shores in the future. This is unthinkable today on the salt sea, where there are no fish.
Ezekiel 47:10 -- "And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En–gedi even unto En–eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many."
