Heth (heth), in the Table of Nations (Gen. 10:15; 1 Chron. 1:13) the son of Canaan and great-grandson of Noah, and the eponymous ancestor of the Hittites. The ‘sons of Heth’ witnessed Abraham’s purchase of the Cave of Machpelah from Ephron (Gen. 23:6, 16, 18). Rebekah was annoyed by Esau’s marriage to a ‘daughter of Heth’ (Gen. 27:46).
