An interesting comment was made in the JFB Commentary about verse 52. They believed that the verse was saying that the spiritual teachers were to take what they had learned and use new and old tactics in teaching. Jesus himself took this to heart in that he taught by parables. This eliminated those that were weak, they looked at the stories and wondered. But those that were seeking the Truth inquired about the meanings, they sought the understanding.
